Brownfields Assessments
Brownfields
The development of "Brownfields" sites is often a complex issue due to real or perceived environmental contamination. The liability of prospective purchasers, lenders, property owners, and others regarding their association with and activities at a site is critical for redevelopment efforts to move forward quickly and successfully. Through the Economic Redevelopment Initiative, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) provides funding to states, tribes, and communities to:
- Assess existing sites
- Prevent further contamination
- Safely clean up sites
- Design plans for reuse
Brownfields Services
SRP Environmental completes Phase I Brownfields Assessments that include review of historical databases, regulatory agency file review, geological assessments, and interviews with current and past landowners and former employees. Phase II Brownfields Assessments include site inspections and sampling and analysis to further assess the potential for adverse affects to human health and the environment. SRP Environmental then helps cities, private corporations, developers, lenders and property owners to determine a remediation strategy, as necessary. Using a turnkey approach, SRP can implement remedial actions and perform verification sampling.
